The National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine on Wednesday, August 23 unveiled a candidate for the Hoima LVC by-election.
NUP party picked Moses Aguda as a candidate in the forthcoming Hoima by-election to fill the LCV chairman seat after the death of Kadiri Kirungi.
While unveiling the candidate, Bobi Wine said that his party will continue to field candidates in all other by-elections, despite several electoral malpractices being witnessed in the country.
“We all know that elections in Uganda are compromised by the regime, to our people in Hoima we are coming. Be ready to receive the message of change and liberation,” said Bobi Wine.
At the same time, Aguda urged the people of Hoima not to view the by-lection as a national election but to instead guard NUP party victory from campaigns to tallying centres.
“We have mastered the tricks they have been using to rig our victory, and they will not work in this by-election,” Aguda noted.
He also assured his supporters that if he wins the seat, he will start by ending land grabbing, and ensure equitable distribution of jobs to residents.
The by-election will be held on September 14, when Aguda will be on ballot with candidates from other political parties.
