A video has emerged of a young man at the center of a boda boda scam who has lost KSh104,000 after the bike he was using was discovered to have fake number plates.
According to the officers, the number plate of the motorcycle did not match what was in the NTSA registration system.
According to the explanation from the video, the officers further explained that they had to confiscate the motorcycle as they conducted further investigations.
The story broke out after a video surfaced online of a man who took the young man at the center of the scandal to the motorcycle dealer where he got his bike.

The riders story
According to the account of the man in the video, the dealership had taken the young man in circles over the credentials of the bike.
Additionally, the dealership laid blame on the young man for getting stopped by officers who discovered the reality of the motorcycle.
To correct the mistake by the dealer, the young man tried getting the motorcycles registered.
However, his efforts did not bear fruit, and the motorcycle was eventually confiscated by the police.
The motorcycle is being held by officers at the Kahawa Sukari police station.

Nijenge Boda Boda dealership
The dealership in question, Nijenge is located in Kahawa Wendani where the young man made his unsuspecting purchase.
To the shock of many, the Nijenge dealers are seen laughing at the young man and his counterpart as they exit the dealership premises.
Coincidentally, the dealership is filled with motorcycles both new and secondhand thus capable of reimbursing the afflicted customer.
With the Boda Boda business booming, many have found themselves preyed upon by motorcycle dealers who retail fraudulent bikes.
According to the young man, he was not aware of the fraudulent nature of his newly purchased bike until he went to register it.
With payment made on said motorcycles, the innocent and mostly young entrepreneurs are left to figure things out for themselves.
