Boda rider allegedly conned by bike lender passes on mysteriously

A young boda boda rider who was defrauded of KSh104,000 by an alleged boda boda con ring in Kahawa Wendani has passed on mysteriously.

Kevin Simiyu, who was allegedly conned his hard-earned money was reported dead on 25 December 2023 Christmas day.

According to reports, Kevin died along the Kahawa Sukari roundabout off Thika Road on the festive Christmas day.

Kevin passes on

According to reports, Kevin passed on at the Kware area just adjacent to Naivas supermarket.

A video has emerged of a young man at the center of a boda boda scam who has lost KSh104,000 after the bike he was using was discovered to have fake number plates.

According to the officers, the number plate of the motorcycle did not match what was in the NTSA registration system.

According to the explanation from the video, the officers further explained that they had to confiscate the motorcycle as they conducted further investigations.

The story broke out after a video surfaced online of a man who took the young man at the center of the scandal to the motorcycle dealer where he got his bike.

Nijenge in alleged fraud

The lending company behind Kevin’s defrauding, Nijenge Uwazi has stayed clear of the allegations leveled by Kevin.

Nijenge Uwazi declined to comment on the issue of whether they had indeed sold the motorbike to the deceased which according to NTSA did not match the registration details Nijenge Uwazi issued Kevin with.

Furthermore, the company speaking to TV47 clarified that they were not aware of Kevin’s passing as it was news to them.

In a twist of events, it is yet to be clarified as to whether Kevin’s death was an accident or if it was a case of foul play.
