Police on Wednesday February 21, 2024 found the body of a prominent businessman dumped along Kathita River in Meru County.

This was after the businessman was reported missing on Friday February 16.

His disappearance had raised concerns among the family members and friends.

The body was later found dumped on the shores of Kathita River.

Reports indicated that the body of the businessman was stacked in a  sack as family members were called to identify it.

The incident has caused tension in the area as residents protest over the alleged murder of the prominent businessman.

He was a popular figure in Meru and people who knew him were shocked about his sudden death.

However, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into the mysterious demise of the businessman.

Meanwhile, local authorities have raised concern over increased murder cases in the area.

They have called for a thorough probe into the matter to establish the motif behind the killing of the business man.

In addition, Meru County Business association has also raised concerns about the safety of its members.

Leaders of the Meru business association have urged the County government of Meru and the national government to ensure justice prevails for the bereaved family.

The businessman whose whereabouts are yet to be established, had a wife and children.
