Body of third-year university student found in River Narok

The body of a university student who disappeared on September 2, 2024 has been discovered in River Narok in what police say was a drowning incident.

The decaying body of the Maasai Mara University student was located floating along the River Narok, 10 kilometers from the campus.

Police, with the help of Red Cross officials recovered the body, which was then taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital morgue.

Confirming the incident, Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare said the body was seen floating in the river at the Morijoi location.

After he was reported missing at the Maasai Mara police post, family and friends began a search to locate the journalism student.

Commander Ngare mentioned that the deceased’s mother had traveled from her residence in Eldoret to Narok to identify the body.

Additionally, River Narok is known for a dangerous spot that has tragically taken lives of both students and area residents.

Meanwhile, local divers reported that during the heavy rains, the river’s depth can reach up to 14 meters.
