Police have launched investigations after a 22-year-old man stabbed his father to death during an argument over harvesting of green maize for sale in Chepalungu, Bomet county.
According to the police report, the suspect escaped immediately after committing the crime on Sunday February 16, 2025.
Chepalungu sub-county police commandant Phanton Analo confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect, Maxwell Mutai attacked his father, Wesly Mutai 48, with a machete, killing him on the spot during an argument.
The police boss added that the cause of the conflict between father and son was a plan to harvest green maize on their farm for sale.
Police visited the crime scene in the maize farm where they found the lifeless body of the victim lying in a pool of blood.
The body had severe deep cuts on the head, left hand and left limb inflicted by a sharp object.
Meanwhile, the body was moved to Kapkatet hospital mortuary for post mortem analysis.
A similar incident occurred on February 15, 2025 when a smokie vendor stabbed to death a 20-year-old man over failure to pay Ksh25 for a boiled egg in Mogogosiek Village, Bomet County.
According to the police, the 20-year-old Brian Moi was stabbed to death after failing to pay Ksh25 for a boiled egg.
