Residents of Endebess, Trans Nzoia County have been deeply moved after one brave police Commander volunteered to retrieve the body of a student who drowned in a dam.
Salesioh Murithi, the Endebess Sub-County Police Commander on Monday 4, showed his prowess when he dived to retrieve the body.
The deceased was a 17-year-old Amos Barasa Wanjala at the Mubere Secondary School who decided to go for a swim on his way home from church.

It was reported that he was in the company of his other three classmates who only realized of his drowning when it was already too late.
Later on, after fate took its turn, the police arrived and that’s when the selfless Police Commander dared to retrieve the body, an operation that is claimed to take days was completed in 2 hours.
The police commander who is soon to retire in the next two years recounted how he learned swimming at an early age.
“I learned swimming at the age of 10 in the Rupingazi, amd Ena rivers,” Murithi said.
His bravery was commended by the residents of Endebess, Trans Nzoia painting him as a good police man.

One Raphael Eyanai, a resident told Citizen TV that it took two months to retrieve bodies in similar situations in the past.
“Murithi’s selfless act serves as a testament to the dedication and courage of Law enforcement officers who go above and beyond the call of duty to serve and protect their communities,” Eyanai said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kitale Referral Morgue.
