A 14-year-old girl who topped the KCPE examinations at Nyalgunga primary school in Alego/Usonga sub-county last year is demanding answers from the Ministry of Education.

This after Gloria Adhiambo Owino got a call-up to join Lenana School in Nairobi, it is common knowledge that Lenana is purely a boys’ school.

Gloria who managed a 389 mark in the Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education exams brought joy to her family, however, it was short-lived after she downloaded her calling letter only to find she was placed at a boys’ school.

14-year-old, Gloria revealed that she is still waiting for another calling letter since she applied to several Girls’ schools including national schools such as Alliance, Starehe Girls, and Kisumu Girls.

She added that her dream is to join Kisumu Girls’ high school however her parent are not in a position to raise school fees for her.

This puts her at risk of not going further with her education, due to the situation at home.

The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE results were marred with discrepancies, ranging from wrong marks for candidates and schools and missing marks.

The National Examination Council admitted to have encountered the mistakes in the release of the results blaming the irregularities on technology.
