Busia fake cop appears in court in full police regalia

Jecinta Ouma, arrested in Busia County for impersonating a police officer, appeared at the Busia High Court on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, to face charges pressed against her.

What was even more striking during the court session was that the 22-year-old woman appeared dressed in full police regalia, with cameras focusing on her.

How was a Jecinta Ouma dressed in court?

Jecinta appeared in court wearing the complete General Service Unit (GSU) police uniform.

Hailing from Bukiri in Samia, Busia County, she was clad in the full jungle GSU attire, including a jungle trouser, shirt, and vest worn by members of that police service.

Completing her look, she had a black belt, black police boots, and a jungle hat covering her head, over which she had a braided hairstyle.

The accused pleaded guilty to impersonation before Magistrate Peter Oleng, who directed that she be remanded for 21 more days to allow the police to conclude their investigations.

“During the investigation, she will be detained at Bumala Police Station for 21 days. A mention will be on February 8, 2024,” the court stated.

Jecinta was apprehended in Bukhalarire shopping center in Butula, Busia, on Tuesday, January 16, by officers from Butula police station.

The suspect was en route to Butula police station, dressed in a GSU uniform with an AK47 rifle.

According to police sources in the county, Jecinta has been visiting several police stations in the country, including Kabete in Kiambu, Kisumu, and Siaya.
