Busia played host to a special joint event under the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign and Football for Schools programs on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

The event brought together 30 schools from the region, where students participated in small-sided matches and life skills training throughout the day.

The activities culminated in an award ceremony, during which footballs were distributed to the teams as a token of encouragement.

FKF Vice President, speaking at the event, highlighted the potential witnessed during the day, stating, “We’ve been blessed to see raw talent on display, and the impact is evident. We’ve cultivated a competitive spirit within schools, which is crucial for the growth of women’s football and fostering healthy competition.”

The event also featured a graduation ceremony for newly certified CAF D coaches, following their completion of a 10-day course.

Among the graduates were 20 school teachers and 10 community coaches. This initiative by FKF is a strategic effort to ensure that those responsible for player development are equipped with the right knowledge and skills to guide young talent effectively.

This event marked the sixth rollout of the Women’s Football Campaign and the third edition of the Football for Schools program.
