A Busia High Court on Tuesday June 11, 2024 sentenced a terror suspect to 30 years in jail over involvement in terrorist activities in the country.
This was during a court ruling after a two and half year trial that kicked off on December 18, 2021.
Jackton Jacob Kanoti alias Abdul Hakim, was arrested in Siaya township for his involvement with the Al-Shabaab and the Islamic State of Iraq terror groups.
The court established beyond reasonable doubt that the evidence adduced by the prosecution was credible and consistent for conviction, thus sentencing the terror suspect to 30 years in prison.
At the time of his arrest, Jackton was found with incriminating materials related to terrorist acts, as well as a mobile phone through which he accessed terrorism-related information via videos and chats from various telegram groups.
