The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Kipchumba Murkomen, has reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to ensuring the readiness of Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums for the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
Speaking during a routine inspection of the two stadiums earlier today, CS Murkomen expressed confidence in the progress being made as the tournament’s kickoff on February 1, 2024, approaches.
Progress and Commitment
“The progress reassures me that we are on track to meet the deadlines set by CAF,” stated CS Murkomen.
He further commended the construction teams, noting their determination to deliver top-tier facilities.
“The personnel assured me that, beyond their professional obligations, they are personally motivated to complete the work in time for the tournaments. This reflects their pride in our nation.”

The inspection precedes a high-level review by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2024. During the visit, CAF officials will assess the readiness of key facilities to host the prestigious tournament, marking Kenya’s debut as a CHAN host nation.
