The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced key information relating to the 2024/2025 Interclub season including the confirmed number of slots allocated to each Member Association.
CAF has confirmed the 12 highest-ranked Member Associations according to the CAF rankings who will be eligible to enter two Clubs in the Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 12 highest-ranked national associations are as follows: Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, RD Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
The Confederation started the registration period for Member Associations to register their qualified Clubs on the CAF Competitions Management System (CMS).
The 2024/2025 Interclub season will kick off with the Preliminary Round scheduled between 16–18 August 2024, the Group Stages are scheduled between October – December 2024.
The Knockout Phase and Final of both competitions will be between March and May 2025.
Registration Windows:
Four registration window periods have been confirmed to all Participating Member Associations as follows:
- 01 July – 20 July: Players participating in the Preliminary Round
- 21 July – 31 August: Players participating in the Second Preliminary Round
- 01 – 30 September: Players participating in the Group Stages
- 01 – 31 January 2025: Maximum of seven (7) additional players, including four (4) replacements.
Competition Format:
The addition of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup remains cancelled.
Consequently, teams eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League will no longer transition into the CAF Confederation Cup.
Clubs that advance from the second preliminary round of the Confederation Cup will proceed directly to the competition’s group stage.
