The Board of Directors of Cape Media Limited, the parent company of TV47 and Radio47, has announced the appointment of Mr. Mwenda Njoka, MBS, as the company’s Chief Executive Officer effective 10th June 2024.
Mr. Njoka brings a wealth of experience, having distinguished himself in the Kenyan media landscape for over 30 years.
Before his appointment, Mr. Njoka served as the CEO of the Government Press and Government Printer of the Republic of Kenya.
He also boasts an impressive career in journalism, having held senior management positions in both print and electronic media outlets across the country.
Mr. Njoka’s journalistic achievements are noteworthy. During his tenure with the Standard Media Group, he served as Managing Editor and Associate Editor, garnering recognition as both Kenya Journalist of the Year and Investigative Journalist of the Year.
At the Nation Media Group, his investigative prowess shone through once again, as his work earned him
the coveted CNN Africa Journalist of the Year Award (Business Category).
Mr. Njoka played a pivotal role in creating groundbreaking and award-winning content at Royal Media Services (Citizen TV), receiving the prestigious Kalasha Award for the Best TV Documentary Script.
He further extended his media experience with a senior position at Pay TV service provider, Zuku TV.
Mwenda was conferred the award of Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear in 2020 by the President of the Republic of Kenya for his distinguished service to the nation.
Mr. Njoka’s commitment extends beyond the media sphere. He is an Honorary Warden appointed under the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act for the Eastern Conservation Area.
A holder of various professional and academic qualifications, both locally and internationally (South Africa and the USA), Mr. Njoka is also pursuing an MBA in Media Leadership.
