Keilah, the daughter of Carrol Sonnie and comedian Mulamwah, recently celebrated her birthday, and her joyful moment quickly turned into a viral sensation.
In a video shared by her mother, Keilah excitedly greeted Sonnie, declaring, “Mummy, you’ve come, I was calling you!”
After receiving a keyboard as a gift, Keilah innocently referred to her father as “mtu wa bubblegum” (the bubblegum guy), leaving Kenyans’ tickled and concerned about her recognition of him.
“Niko na keyboard” (I have a keyboard). Sonnie, surprised, asked, “You have a keyboard? Nice! Who gave you a keyboard?” Keilah replied, “Nilitoa kwa ule mtu wa bubblegum” (I got it from the bubblegum guy).
Amused, Sonie repeated Keilah’s words on camera, laughing at the reference to the “bubblegum guy.”
She then encouraged Keilah to thank her fans again before they proceeded to cut her birthday cake and unwrap the remaining gifts
The lighthearted reference sparked mixed reactions on social media, with fans suggesting it indicated a disconnect in their relationship.
Mulamwah, who has acknowledged limited contact with his daughter in her early years, called to wish her a happy birthday, promising to visit soon.
The comment section was lively:
- Imani: “Mulamwah yeye alipelekea mtoto keyboard akitafuna bubble gum, shidake am tired of defending him!”
- Essie5326: “Sasa mnakasirika na mtu wa bubblegum alisema Keilah is not my kid?”
- Anlexis: “Mulamwah a whole you surprises a kid with bubblegum surely!”
- Its Jess: “Naona mumejam tu saana mnataka kuburst juu ya mtu wa bubble gum. This is a kid!!!!”
- User: “Correct the baby please since mtu wa bubble gum ameamua kukua in the life of the baby.”
While laughter filled the comments, many urged Mulamwah to strengthen his bond with Keilah, hoping she’ll one day call him “Dad” instead of the playful moniker.
