Akothee’s sister Cebbie Koks (real name Elseba Awuor Kokeyo) has maintained that she is still married to city lawyer Steve Ogolla.
She set the record straight in a recent interview, where she blamed fame for some of the problems in their two-year-old marriage.
Cebbie Koks got married to Steve Ogolla through a traditional wedding in December 2022. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Virtual Twenty One Ltd.
The 35-year-old admitted that she regrets being a public figure and would love to have her affairs private especially marriage.
“Given a chance, I would not want to be out there. I would also not want to be famous. Social media is not a safe space for everyone and it can also reveal the ugly edge in your marriage. I wish my marriage is not out there.
“Given a chance, I would keep it private because people look out for the bad things that can happen and pray over it and even make it a subject of discussion. There is a way blogs twist things. I know the pain and the joy of public life. But I will still post the good things about marriage,” she explained.
On whether she had married her best friend, Cebbie Koks intimated that it was too early to tell.
“I don’t think I can say I married my best friend since I am still so young in married. People who have been there for like four years can speak with a lot of certainty. He is a good man, I would love to see him grow and reach his ambitions,” she explained.
This comes barely two weeks after she delected all her wedding photos on her social media pages and reversed her Instagram name from Mrs. Ogolla E. A. to Elseba Awuor Kokeyo.
Kenyans took this as a hint that their marriage had hit rock bottom barely two years in. The couple however maintained silence over the matter despite social media pressure.
This was not the first time there was gossip about their separation. Rumours began in mid 2023 although Cebbie Koks clarified that it was mere gossip.
