United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malalah has denied allegations of resigning from the ruling party.
In a statement posted on his X account, Malalah explained that he is focused on helping president William Ruto achieve the UDA agenda for Kenya.
At the same time, Malalah maintained that he is the UDA secretary general, as he termed the resignation letter circulating on social media as fake.
He urged party supporters and Kenyans in general to ignore the contents of the alleged fake letter.
“Ignore propaganda. The party is stable and focused on helping President William Ruto achieve his agenda for Kenya. Chama iko Imara,” Malalah stated.
The letter emerged at a time when there were divisions in the ruling party, UDA, as a section of party leaders announced plans to replace Malalah.
Those who were pushing for the Malalah ouster, accused him of sabotaging the party and President William Ruto.
For instance, the UDA SG is being accused of going against Ruto’s plan of forming a broad-based government.
This was after President Ruto picked ODM leaders including former governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), ODM chairman John Mbadi and National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi to be part of his cabinet if approved by parliament.
Meanwhile, a section of UDA leaders who claimed to have replaced Malalah in the party claimed they had the support of senior party officials.
Speaking during a press briefing at the party headquarters on Tuesday July 30, 2024, Joe Khalende noted that he was ready to take over the role of UDA secretary general.
