The former Independent Electoral and boundaries commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati seems to be enjoying a much-needed peaceful life after retirement, with the former Kenyan election referee surfacing for the first time in months after his tenure at the electoral body ended.
Chebukati posted a picture of himself wearing a smile captioned “Laughter transcends generations.” while he was hanging out with his father on Sunday afternoon.
61-year-old Chebukati completed his term in January after overseeing the hotly contested 2022 general elections which were marred with violence during the announcement of the presidential results at the Bomas of Kenya.
Earlier this year Chebukati was at a public function to celebrate his son Emmanuel Chebukati’s achievement of being recognized in University.
“Congratulations Emmanuel Chebuakti Co-Founder, Hepta analytics on your Recognition and Award as a Tartan on the Rise by Carnegie Mellon University,” Chebukati said
During his tenure at IEBC, Chebukati managed to keep the details about his family private
Chebukati exited alongside commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu following the lapse of their 6-year tenure on January 17.
