Chelsea striker Nico Jackson has addressed the criticism surrounding his performance in front of goal in his first season with the English Premier League side.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Jackson said he is happy with how life is turning out for him, and those having an issue with his performances have little understanding of football.
“It’s my first season, so I am happy, although everybody is talking nonsense. I am very happy, and I don’t care what people say. It is just people who don’t know about football,” he said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old forward joined Chelsea from La Liga side Villarreal on June 30, 2023, for a fee reported to be £32 million and signed an eight-year deal.
He has made a total of 16 appearances for Chelsea so far, scoring seven goals in the process, a return he says is good, and that he is not stopping scoring goals for the Blues anytime soon.
“De Bruyne was here at Chelsea and also Salah was here… they struggled here and are now big players. They didn’t listen to people who don’t know football! Pochettino keeps telling me that,” Nico Jackson added.

Nico Jackson made his debut for the club in a 1–1 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on August 13, 2023, and scored his first goal in Chelsea colors in a 3-0 win against newly promoted Luton Town on August 25, 2023.
He scored a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 6, a match that brought to an end Spurs’ unbeaten start to life under Ange Postecoglou.
