At 23, Shaniqwa catapulted to fame with his comedic talent, but behind the laughter lay a personal journey marked by heartache.
In a recent interview, Shaniqwa opened up about his life as a single father and his plans for a fresh start in love.
Sitting down with Ofweneke, Shaniqwa spoke candidly about his current relationship.
“Right now, I’m in a good relationship. I’m living a good life and in good hands.
I thank God,” he shared with a smile. This new chapter in his life brings him joy, but his path to this moment was fraught with difficulties.
Reflecting on his past, Shaniqwa recalled the dark days he endured five years ago.
As a single dad struggling to make ends meet, he felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.
“I didn’t deserve it. Everyone has their faults, but I didn’t deserve it, and my son didn’t deserve it. I went through hell, watching my world crumble.
Even if I had my flaws, I didn’t deserve it. My child certainly didn’t deserve it,” he revealed.
The comedian opened up about the red flags he had ignored in his previous relationship.
He remembered the troubling midnight calls that signalled trouble.
“I saw it — those midnight calls. It happened after I had organized a job for her because she was a housewife.
Back then, I was working at KTN, but after I got fired, she became the breadwinner. I’d wake up in the middle of the night and find her chatting.”
The turning point came on his son’s first birthday, a day meant for celebration.
“We were planning a party when she got a call saying she needed to go to Ruiru on that day. I asked, ‘Why? What’s so important? Go tomorrow. I’m not stopping you from going.’ I convinced her to stay.”
Despite the pain, Shaniqwa has chosen the path of forgiveness.
“We even chat on Instagram DMs — I hold no grudges. I forgive because if I don’t forgive, who will forgive me for my sins? I’m not a saint. If she were here, she’d tell you my faults too,” he said.
