Counter terrorism police shoots wife dead at a barracks

Police in Kampala, Uganda, are investigating an incident where a police officer shot dead his wife, fellow officer, under unclear circumstances.

The shocking incident occurred on Tuesday, September 5 around 5:15 pm at Jinja Road Police Barracks.

Its is reported that Egwang David – attached to Counter Terrorism tactical in Naguru, Kampala – shot his wife dead with a pistol at the barracks where they have been staying.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the deceased has been identified as corporal Atino Jennifer – attached to Very Important Person Protection Unit of Police (VIPPU) at Parliament.

“The motive of shooting is suspected to be domestic violence,” Onyango says.

The suspect is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Division awaiting interrogation.
