Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of several women in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Jeremiah Ongati Makambo, 30, Silas Kipyegon, 24, and Daniel Gatungula, 35, were arrested by Ruiru-based DCI detectives on Sunday within Wataalam area.

This comes a few days after the prime suspect, 29-year-old Paul Magara Morara was arrested and arraigned last week.

According to the DCI, the three suspects are specifically linked to the brutal murder of Lovince Njoki, who was hacked to death in Wataalam on August 23, 2021. Her assailants disappeared with her valuables, including a mobile phone.

The detectives caught up with the suspect after they reportedly used the same stolen phone interchangeably. The phone ( now an exhibit) has been recovered.

Teenage Victim Succumbs

One of the gang's victims, 18-year-old Ann Mumbi who had been admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital's ICU died of her injuries. Mumbi had been attacked alongside her 19-year-old sister Winfred Kalumi.

"The late Ann Mumbi and Winfred Kalumi were attacked in their sleep by the lone agent of death, who mastered access to their house before committing the monstrous act, leaving the two for dead," reported the DCI.

The investigative agency adds: "The DCI condoles with the family of the late Ann Mumbi, and tirelessly works to bring to book the felons who have caused untold pain and grief to the families and victims of the string of attacks in the area (Ruiru)."
