Kiambu woman, 21, arrested with 810 rolls of bhang

Police in Kibichoi, Kiambu County, are holding a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of peddling bhang and other prohibited substances.

Rosemary Waithera Ngige was arrested in Thuita village, Komothai location, yesterday.

The National Police Service (NPS) says 810 rolls of bhang were found in her possession. The arrest followed a tip-off from a member of the public.

Officers from Kibichoi Police Station were conducted an intelligence-led operation to rid the area of illicit brews and illegal drugs when they were tipped off about the suspect.

"Indulgence in drugs and narcotics has caused anguish to families as most victims become less productive and dependent for their sustenance," says the NPS.

"The vice further exposes victims to health concerns related to contracting and the spread of communicable diseases."

Waithera will be charged in court next week.
