  • Amani National Congress (ANC) Party candidate, who is the outgoing Nambale MP Sakwa Bunyasi has rejected the results citing irregularities.
  • In 2017, Paul Otuoma was defeated by outgoing governor Sospeter Ojaamong.


Dr. Paul Otuoma, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate has won the Busia gubernatorial race.

 

The former Funyula MP won the seat after garnering 164,478 votes.

Amani National Congress (ANC) Party candidate, who is the outgoing Nambale MP Sakwa Bunyasi, came second after polling 92,144 votes.


Speaking after he was declared winner, Dr. Otuoma thanked the people of Busia for expressing faith in him promising to turn around the poor economic and infrastructural status of the county.


However, Bunyasi has rejected the outcome of the poll claiming the voting exercise was married by irregularities.


The County Women Representative seat was clinched by ODM's Catherine Omanyo who garnered 127,710 votes. 


Okiyah Omtata, popularly referred to as the people's defender, has also clinched the county's senatorial seat.
