Three persons die, several injured as car rams into a lorry at Kajiado police checkpoint

Three persons died and three others sustained injuries in a fatal road accident along the Namanga Road, near Ilbisil town on Tuesday night.

According to police report, the accident occurred when a personal car (model Toyota  Caldina station wagon) approached a police road block on a high speed. The ill-fated car bypassed five other vehicles waiting to be inspected before ramming into into a lorry before veering off the road  killing two of its  occupants on the spot with the third  person succumbing to injuries at on his way to hospital.

The fourth passenger sustained serious injuries and is currently recuperating at Kajiado Level 5 Hospital., while the driver of the car took to his heels.

The driver of the lorry that was pushed off the road and his conductor sustained minor injuries.

Both vehicles were heading towards the Namanga direction at the time of the accident.

Confirming the incident, Oloilai Police Commander Joseph Mutiria said the accident was caused by over speeding caused the accident, urging motorists to observe traffic rules to avoid such accidents.

The bodies were moved to Kajiado Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
