Kiambu Community Health Volunteers to receive monthly salaries if bill is passed

Community Health Volunteers (CHV) in Kiambu County have a reason to smile after Governor Kimani Wamatangi pledged to enact a bill that will see them receive monthly salary into law.

Governor Wamatangi has consequently urged MCAs to fastract the amendment of the bill that has been pending in the county assembly for long.

Wamatangi said the role of CHVs boost the county's health sector in that they detect non communicable diseases at early stages before the patient is admitted in the hospital, releaving the burden of congestion at hospitals.

Kijabe Ward MCA Nyutu Wamwere said Community Health Volunteers Bill is at the final stage, adding that MCAs will pass it once sittings resume.

This, the MCA says, will enable the run the county's health sector smoothly.

Speaking in Lari sub-County after receiving Glaucoma eye screening machines from Christian Blind Mission, Governor Wamatangi said the awareness campaign led by CHV members will reduce early blindness that can be treated if detected before the situation worsens.
