Fresh twist as Gladys Chania is arrested after husband was found murdered in Kieni Forest

Police on Friday, October 14 arrested Gladys Chania, Kiambu politician whose husband was murdered and body dumped in Kieni Forest in Gatundu North.
Confirming the arrest, Kiambu Police Commander Perminus Kioi said that Chania is the prime suspect in the murder of her husband George Mwangi, with her police reports not adding up.
The body of Mwangi was found wrapped in a polythene bag in the said forest on Wednesday, October 12 evening.
Fresh twist
Chania had told police that Mwangi, 58, went missing from their home in Mangu, Kiambu on Sunday, October 9 morning. She made a missing person's report at Kamwangi Police Station and later at Mwea Police Post.
But the police are now looking at a possibility that Mwangi might have been killed in their house before being dumped in the forest.
Four other suspects have also being arrested as investigations continue.
Mwangi was to fly back to Rwanda
Mwangi owns a construction company in Kigali, Rwanda and had come to Kenya on September 13. He was to return to the land-locked country on Tuesday, October 18.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that he was hit with a blunt object on the head, his face seemingly disfigured with acid.
Mwangi and Gladys had been married for 24 years. The couple has three children.
Gladys vied for the Kiambu Woman Representative seat in the August 9 2022 General Election but lost.
