    Police in Mbita sub-County, Homa Bay County, are investigating an incident where a daring gang broke into a police station and stole guns.

    The gang broke into Kipasi Police Post on Wednesday, November 16 night and stole four guns. 

    In an incident that has exposed the police in the county, the unknown number of robbers also stole 110 bullets from the armoury.

    It is not clear how the gang was able to execute the robbery at a site that used to house the office of Lambwe Central location chief.

    Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne says that the stolen guns were; three G3 and one AK-47 rifles with serial numbers G3 S/NO. A3 6699056, G3 S/NO. 6593403, G3 FMP 402994 and AK-47 NO. 4913650 respectively.

    A police report also adds that the 110 bullets included; 80 rounds of 7.62 millimetre and 30 rounds of 7.62 millimetre special ammunition.

    Mbita Constituency chiefs have been mobilised to help police in tracing the stolen guns.

    Investigators are also probing why no officer was manning the armoury at the time the gang broke in.
