William Kisang wins the coveted UDA ticket; enroute to succeed CS Murkomen

Former Marakwet West MP William Kisang has won the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket for the forthcoming Elgeyo Marakwet Senatorial By-election.
Kisang floored 20 other aspirants who were seeking the coveted ticket in a nomination exercise conducted on Saturday, November 26.
He got 28,136 votes, with his closest competitors - Timothy Kipchumba and Jonathan Tanui - garnering 26,766 and 26,735 votes respectively.
And just like the Kandara nomination exercise, Elgeyo Marakwet's was also marred by low voter turnout.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senatorial seat fell vacant after Kipchumba Murkomen resigned after being appointed Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary by President William Ruto.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will conduct the Elgeyo Marakwet (senatorial), Kandara (parliamentary) and Garissa Township (parliamentary) by-elections on January 5, 2023.
