Three UoN students die after boat capsizes in Lake Victoria

Three University of Nairobi students died on New Year's Eve after a boat they were riding in capsized Lake Victoria. 

The students - a 1st Year, 3rd and 6th Year were among seven students who had taken a ride at the Lake to usher in New Year. 

Bunyala sub-County police commander Isaiah Mose says they have launched investigations into the cause of the accident. The bodies of the trio are yet to be recovered from the water, with search being called off late last night due to darkness. 

“Efforts to recover the bodies were halted due to bad weather and darkness, but a multi-agency team with the help of the Kenya coast guards will resume the search today. Possibilities of survival are minimal,” Mose said.
