Ruto's UDA man wins Garissa Township MP seat

Barrow Dekow Mohamed of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has won the Garissa Township Constituency by-election.

Dekow won the seat after garnering 11,572 votes. United Democratic Movement's (UDM) Nassir Dolal came second with 8,158 votes, while NARC Kenya’s Ibrahim Malow came a distant third with only 840 votes.

According to the Returning Officer for Garissa Township Constituency by-election Abdi Yunis, a total of 21,218 votes were cast in the mini-polls, representing 39.84 percent voter turnout.

The Garissa Township MP seat fell vacant after Aden Duale resigned after he was appointed by President William Ruto to be the Defence Cabinet Secretary.
