Duo on boda boda crushed to death by sugarcane truck along Kisumu-Kakamega Road

Two people died on Sunday evening after a boda boda they were riding on was involved in an accident with a sugarcane truck at Ilesi along the Kakamega-Kisumu Road. 

A third passenger was seriously injured. 

According to eye witnesses, the truck which was ferrying cane from the Kisumu direction attempted to overtake the motorbike when the accident happened. 

Shinyalu OCPD Robert Makau said they are searching for the driver of the truck who escaped after the incident. Ilesi residents who spoke to 'TV47 Digital' called on the government to erect speed bumps in the area to reduce the frequent accidents. 

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kakamega County General Hospital Mortuary as police continue with investigations.
