Police laxity

Addressing the media at PCEA Beth Kiburi Memorial church in Olkalou, Iria-ini PCEA Moderator Muriithi Ndegwa decried laxity on the part of security officers in the area.

Muriithi noted that there are also rued that despite residents reporting numerous cases of break-ins to police stations in Oljororok and Olkalou, no action has been taken.

They suggested the re-introduction of police road blocks in the area which will ensure thorough in and out vehicle check ups, hoping that this will ease the efforts to arrest wrongdoers.

Rev. Samuel Kamutu, a victim and a resident in Oljorork, says he has lost more than 75 chickens from his homestead.

Samuel Mwangi, another victim and a resident in Thaba village, says his two dairy cows - which were his source of livelihood - were stolen.

In a bid to look for solutions, they unanimously reached to an agreement of praying and fasting for 40 days starting tomorrow (Monday, February 20) with hope of curbing the menace through prayers.

However, they are calling upon police to beef up security in the area by mounting roadblocks mainly on Nyahururu-Gilgil Road to aid in the arrest of the culprits.
