Court allows police to detain 3 suspects in Blogger Daniel Muthiani’s murder case for 21 days

The Magistrate court has allowed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to detain three suspects in the Meru Blogger Daniel Muthiani’s murder case for 21 days.

Senior Resident Magistrate William Lopokoiyit sitting at the Kibera Law Court on Monday January 8, 2024 granted DCI 21 days to detain three suspects through a miscellaneous criminal application.

Lopokoiyit explained that allowing police to detain the suspects for 21 more days will help the officers conduct further investigations into the murder of Meru Blogger Daniel Muthiani Alias Sniper.

The three suspects are Boniface Githinji Njihia aka Dj  Kaboom, Brian Mwenda Alias Brayo, and Grace Kathambi Githinji.

The three suspects are being held at Gigiri Police Station.

According to an autopsy that was conducted on December 22, 2023 at Marimanti Level 4 hospital, Daniel Muthiani was strangled to death.

Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor said Sniper’s body had marks on the neck as well as fractured ribs.

Meanwhile, Sniper was reported missing on December 2, 2023 before his body was later found on December 6 at Mutonga River in Tharaka Nithi County.

His family is appealing for justice at a time when the police are investigating the matter to unravel the mystery surrounding his murder.
