The High Court on Wednesday, August 23 issued orders to allow police to detain drug suspect Nancy Kigunzu alias Mathe Wa Ngara for five days.
While issuing the orders, the JKIA Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Njeri Thuku explained that it would enable police to investigate the matter conclusively.
As a result, Mathe Wa Ngara will take plea on Monday, August 28. She is being held at the Muthaiga Police Station.
The court also ordered for Mathe Wa Ngara to be taken to hospital for medical attention as she was not feeling well.
Nancy Kigunzu was arrested on August 21, in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) during a police operation.
Her arrest came after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) launched an operation in search of Mathe Wa Ngara for allegedly selling bhang in Ngara, Kamukunji constituency.
She was questioned for several hours at the DCI headquarters, along Kiambu Road as officers prepared to present her in court.
Initially, Nancy Kigunzu had gone into hiding after her associate, Teresia Wanjiru, was arrested on August 15.
Teresia Wanjiru was arrested with KSh13.4 million cash, 26 bags of bhang, 4 cartons of rolling materials, 173 packed sweets, and a carton of suspected weed cookies in Kariua slums, Ngara.
