Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Saudi Pro League record for most goals in a season

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be unstoppable in etching his name into the annals of football history, as he continues to break records.

After scoring 35 goals in the Saudi Pro League, the Portuguese international becomes the first player to record more goals in four different leagues.

Ronaldo has now become the top scorer in the Saudi Pro Football League, as he netted a brace during Al-Nassr’s 4-2 win against Al-Ittihad in their final league game of the season.

The 39-year-old’s 35th goal took him past Moroccan forward Abderrazak Hamdallah’s tally of 34 goals, which was set during the 2018-19 campaign.

Through the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, Al-Nassr has breached the 100-goal mark in the league for the first time in their history.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 64 goals in 69 games for Al-Nassr in all competitions since joining on a free transfer in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United.

The win meant Al-Nassr finished second in the table for the second successive season, 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal but 17 points clear of third-placed Al-Ahli.

Ronaldo has now scored 765 goals in his 22-year career for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

He also holds the record for international goals with 128 from 206 appearances for Portugal.

According to media reports, the star attacker could be offered a new deal after a record-breaking season as he looks to stay back in the Middle East beyond his 40th birthday.
