CS Ababu Faces Hostile Crowd at Fred Omondi’s Memorial

Youth and Sports CS Ababu Namwamba had a tough time addressing Kenyans.

They had gathered to honour comedian and singer Fred Omondi, who tragically died in a road accident.

The event, aptly named “Fred Omondi: The Last Laugh,” was meant to celebrate his life.

Unfortunately, tensions ran high as CS Ababu took the stage.

As he attempted to speak, the crowd grew restless and started booing.

Ababu, standing with other officials, tried to continue but was forced to hand over to his colleagues amidst the uproar.

Renowned comedian Churchill intervened, attempting to calm the agitated crowd, but his efforts were met with anti-Ruto chants instead.

Fred Omondi was the brother of the well-known comedian and activist Eric Omondi, adding a layer of emotion to the event.

The situation grew increasingly tense, captured in videos circulating on social media.

Despite the hostility, CS Ababu remained composed.

“We recognize that energy, we appreciate it, but we shall pay respects to Fredrick (Fred) Omondi tonight,” he told the crowd.

Ababu then offered a heartfelt tribute, giving Sh300,000 to Fred’s family to support burial arrangements.

Amidst ongoing boos, he maintained a sense of humour and perspective. “Na leo make sure you get enough content. The booing is great content… I have enjoyed this,” he quipped.

The memorial at Carnivore Simba Saloon was dedicated to raising funds and celebrating Fred’s life.

After the event, CS Ababu took to social media.

Expressing his respect for the crowd’s passion and opposition to the Finance Bill, 2024.

He emphasized that once emotions settle, everyone will understand the collective effort needed to build a better nation.

CS Ababu Namwamba’s resilience and respect for differing opinions highlighted his commitment to honouring Fred Omondi’s legacy, even in the face of adversity.
