The Cabinet Secretary for ICT, Eliud Owalo, has made a compassionate visit to console Austin Odhiambo, the Gor Mahia attacking midfielder who is currently mourning the loss of his son.

Owalo, arguably the number-one fan of Gor Mahia, quietly made his way to Lucky Summer Estate in Nairobi, where the attacking midfielder resides, to offer his condolences.

In a heartfelt statement, CS Eliud Owalo expressed his condolences, saying, “At this moment of grief, I join the rest of the K’Ogalo fraternity in consoling Austin’s family and praying for them. May God wipe their tears and give them the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Odhiambo has been instrumental since ditching archrivals AFC Leopards

Odhiambo has been a pivotal force in the Gor Mahia midfield since his transfer from arch-rivals AFC Leopards two years ago.

This season, he has maintained his exceptional form, contributing significantly to Gor Mahia’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

Currently, the team is tied on seven points with Posta Rangers after completing matchday three.

Austin Odhiambo boasts of beating opponents on ‘bad’ pitch

After drawing 1-1 at home to Sofapaka in their season opener, Gor Mahia saw off hosts Ulinzi Stars thanks to a first-half goal from midfielder Kevin Juma.

Odhiambo also starred in the middle of the pack dictating the game to ensure the record Kenyan Premier League champions secure all three points on away turf.

Following his standout performance, the offensive midfielder shared his insights into the match, saying the pitch conditions were not ideal for our usual style of play.

“We expected a tough game against Ulinzi Stars, of course. At their home ground, the pitch wasn’t good, we could not play the football we are used to playing. But we used the tactics of the coach to get a goal,” Odhiambo said.
