Interior cabinet secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki has declared Wednesday April 10, 2024 a public holiday for the celebration of Idd ul-Fitr.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 9,2024 Kindiki noted that Muslims and other Kenyans will be celebrating Idd, to mark the end of Ramadhan.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Wednesday, the 10th April, 2024, shall be a Public Holiday to mark Idd- ul-Fitr,” Kindiki noted in a statement.
Idd ul Fitr is usually celebrated by Muslims around the world to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and prayer.
According to Muslims, Idd is one of the largest and most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
