Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, perhaps blowing her own trumpet, on Monday, October 16 lauded the Ministry of Health for inaugurating the KHHRAC.
According to CS Nakhumicha, the country took a significant stride in healthcare development in June this year when President William Ruto inaugurated the Kenya Health Human Resource Advisory Council (KHHRAC).
The launch of KHHRAC, the CS says, marked a pivotal moment in addressing critical issues pertaining to human resources in the healthcare sector.
CS Nakhumicha says that the council’s establishment, just few months after Kenya Kwanza administration took over, reflects a resolute commitment to improving the quality, affordability, and accessibility of healthcare across the nation.
Council’s challenges
The KHHRAC aims to address key challenges facing healthcare workers in the country.
The council aims to tackle pressing challenges faced by the healthcare workforce through its strategic focus areas.
These include postgraduate training for medical professionals, facilitating transfers, creating a framework for internships and subsequent employment, prioritizing staff welfare, and promoting the sharing of specialized expertise.
By addressing these crucial areas, the council endeavors to enhance coordination and effectiveness in healthcare delivery across different levels of government.
