CS Nakhumicha thanks MPs, Senators for passing “crucial” healthcare bills

Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha on Monday, October 16 thanked Members of Parliament and Senators for passing the “crucial” healthcare bills.

According to CS Nakhumicha, the four healthcare bills will revolutionise the country’s health sector towards the realisation of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking at the official opening the Universal Health Coverage Exhibition and Conference in Kericho, CS Nakhumicha stated that the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) Bill, Primary Health Care Bill, Digital Health Bill, and Facility Improvement Fund Bill are geared towards strengthening Kenya’s healthcare system.

“I really want to thank MPs – led by Health Committee Chairperson Robert Pukose – and Senators. They did a tremendous job in working on the four bills to replace NHIF Act. We are now waiting on the final process then our healthcare system will be revolutionised,” an optimistic CS Nakhumicha said.

The CS also assured that her Ministry will procedurally address issues affecting health workers to ensure a motivated workforce for effective and efficient services.
