Davido seeking legal action against media outlets for April Fools drug arrest joke

Davido has issued a statement saying he is seeking legal action against media parties that reported he was arrested over drug possession.

The Grammy-nominated singer has come forward to assure his fans, supporters, and allies that reports of his arrest and detention in Kenya are untrue and ill-intended.

In his statement shared across his social media platforms, he confirms that he has been receiving calls confirming if the allegations against him are true.

Additionally, Davido goes on to confirm that he has been able to complete his East African performances successfully in Kenya and Uganda respectfully.

Furthermore, the singer confirms that he is back home in Nigeria after his successful performances over the easter weekend.

Davido: I have never been arrested anywhere in the world

Davido set the record straight in his statement confirming that he has never been arrested anywhere in the world for any crime.

I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world.” the statement read.

Furthermore, he reiterated that he has never been arrested at his home in Nigeria or his home in America as well as the other places he calls home in the world.

I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’” the statement continued.

Pending legal actions against media outlets

In his statement. Davido has expressed intention to take legal action against news and media outlets responsible for the misinformation,

My lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation.” the statement finalized.

In conclusion, the artist thanked his fans for their continued support of his music and his work over the years in a statement.

The statement comes a day after speculation of his response over a story published by a Kenyan news outlet alleging Davido had been arrested in Kenya.

The story detailed how Davido and his team had allegedly been arrested and detained over cocaine possession found in his jet at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya.

In a turn of events, the news outlet in question came forward claiming that the story was an April Fools prank on Davido, who was winding up his appearances in the country.

In a prank gone wrong on April Fools Day, the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Kenya came forward disparaging the story as fake news with no basis.
