The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced vacancies for additional staff to join the intelligence unit.
According to the DCI, additional staff are expected to help in the fight against crime in the country.
Successful candidates will join the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), which is based at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.
The Intelligence unit also has branches in all counties and sub counties that work in conjunction with the head office in Nairobi.
Only officers of the rank of chief inspector and other lower ranks within the police service qualify to apply for the available vacancies at the DCI.

In addition, serving police officers who attained a C plain in English or Swahili with an overall mean grade of a C plain in KCSE have high chances of being recruited to fill the vacancies.
According to a memo from police headquarters to all commanders, applicants must be below the age of 40 years, have no disciplinary case and must possess good communication skills.
“Diploma/degree holders in information technology or any other related field and valid driving license will have an added advantage,” read part of the memo dated February 7.

The recruitment of new officers to join the intelligence unit is part of the ongoing changes at the DCI, as the unit has also acquired modern equipment to enhance its operations.
For instance, former Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) director at the DCI Dennis Okadapau is the new unit head.
Okadapau has taken over from John Onyango who was promoted and named the deputy DCI boss.
Formerly known as Criminal Intelligence Unit, the unit plays a key role in the war on crime.
Its roles include profiling offenders and providing advisory on crime in the country.
The unit is tasked with collecting crime data from all over the country, identifying crime patterns and providing a link between investigative units by sharing crime data.
