Three senior aides attached to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were on Tuesday, July 30 grilled by DCI detectives as investigations to establish those who could have sponsored recent anti-government protests continue.
Reports indicate that the detectives from DCI’s Serious Crimes Unit visited DP Gachagua’s official residence in Karen, Nairobi, where they recorded statements from the said aides.
Among those who recorded statements included two former MPs who are now political advisors in the Office of the Deputy President.
The unit has also summoned two of DP Gachagua’s allies who are MPs in Nairobi to appear at DCI Headquarters for grilling.
The two MPs, and a former governor also allied to Gachagua, are suspected to have played a part in the infiltration of goons in the Gen Z protests.
The National Police Service (NPS) has on more than one occasion claimed that goons have infiltrated the peaceful Gen Z protests, destroying property, looting businesses, and burn government offices, especially in Nairobi and Central Kenya.
Several government officials led by President William Ruto, have attributed these goons to rogue politicians who are out to settle political scores by creating anarchy and mayhem.
