The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced that it has successfully regained control of its official Facebook and X accounts following a brief takeover by cybercriminals.
In a statement on Sunday February 9, 2025, the DCI admitted that its digital platforms had been hacked, but assured the public that full access had been restored.
“For some moments this evening, we experienced a cyber-attack on the DCI digital platforms (X and Facebook) but have since regained full control,” read part of the DCI report.
During the short period, the hackers published misleading content, which the DCI has since dismissed as fake.
“During the short period, the cyber criminals who attempted to take over the accounts posted misleading information.
“The information is therefore fake and not from the DCI. An interrogation into the criminal activity has been activated to bring to book the perpetrators,” DCI reported.
