DCI seeks 4 more days to detain Ekeza Sacco founder Gakuyo

The State has applied for an extension period of four days for the detention of controversial televangelist Ekeza Sacco founder David Gakuyo Ngare to complete investigations into the Ksh 1B fraud allegations.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives revealed that the Bishop of Calvary Chosen Centre Thika is being investigated for conspiring to commit a felony, Money laundering and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Appearing before the court the investigating officer said investigations were at an advanced stage.

“We are likely to have him charged in several cases including more than 50,000 victims spread all over the country,” he said.

DCI detectives arrest Gakuyo at JKIA

Ekeza Sacco Society founder was on Wednesday arrested by Slueths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The Controversial televangelist who also Vied for the Thika Town Member of Parliament seat on a Jubilee ticket has, however, blamed unknown political leaders for trying to revenge on him.

He said in a video his trip was cut short by detectives who apprehended him at the airport and barred him from travelling out of the country.

“They say I cannot leave the country. I’m at JKIA. I just think there is some revenge somewhere. I’m happy I might get an opportunity to see the judge and be told on what case I have. Right now I’m at the DCI airport,” Gakuyo says in the video.
