Emotions run high in Naivasha as the public protested the death of a NAIVAWASCO staff member, who succumbed to injuries after he was attacked last Friday by hippos.
The NAIVAWASCO employee was receiving treatment at Kijabe Hospital when he died.
on Saturday the same hippos struck a again attacking a form three student from Millimani High School on his way to school.
Residents from the area say that the Hippo established a home at the Naivasha Waste treatment plant and has been living there for two years now.
Kenya wildlife Service officials who assessed the place on Saturday after the boy was attacked reveled that there are seven hippos in the plant among the are two calves .
The maternal hippos have now become aggressive towards unsuspecting passersby near the facility.
This could be an indication of that they are protecting the Calves from danger in turn becoming dangerous themselves.

The day time security guard at the plants whos does by the name Julius said that it since the hippos camped there no one dares to go close by.
“we hardly reach here , our colleague who was mauled was working nearby by on that day and the hippos attacked him from nowhere. the man was scream upon arrival we found he was already bitten and injured badly by the animal.”
The residents are calling on the KWS to vacate the animals from the area before many more lives are lost.
Naivasha is synonymous with hippo attack’s due to its proximity to the lake which is the natural habitat for dangerous animals such as hippos and crocodiles.
In May this year a ferocious hippo nicked named maskio attacked and killed a fisherman at the shores of the Lake Naivasha, the deceased was cast his net in kongoni area when he met his death.
