A few days after the deadly illicit brew claimed the lives of 23 people in Kirinyaga County, a new report has emerged claiming that the illicit brew was exhibit stored at Kiamaciri police station.

Speaking to citizen digital, one officer said that the illicit brew was exhibit at the station before four rogue officers sold it on Sunday night.

However, he asked not to be quoted as no one else could confirm his allegations as all senior police officers had been transferred.

“Our four police officers on Sunday night sold exhibits to the owner of the California bar at Ksh. 20,000 where each officer pocketed Ksh. 5000 each,” he said.

The liquor was sold out at Ksh.20,000 at Carlifornia bar in Kangai village.

However, it is alleged that the bar owner had been arrested 15 times prior to this tragedy and presented to court with the courts releasing him every time.

Central Regional Commissioner Frederick Shisia shifted blame to the courts, insisting that the deaths could have been avoided had the courts punished the owner of the bar selling the deadly liquor.
