The death toll from the Saturday, December 16 evening accident that saw a matatu lose control before plunging into a ditch in Kikima, Makueni County has reaches 12.
Two more people succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment on Sunday, December 17.
Six people are still receiving treatment at Makueni County Referral Hospital in Wote town.
The 14-seater matatu was travelling from Kikima Township to Machakos Town when its breaks failed at around 6pm.
Ten people died on the spot while seven were rushed to Mbooni Hospital before being referred to Makueni County Referral Hospital.
