French league (LFP) disciplinary committee has handed four Paris Saint Germaine PSG players a suspended one-match ban for insulting Marseille fans.
The four players Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Achraf Hakimi and Layvin Kurzawa found themselves in trouble after they were filmed singing an insulting song aimed at rivals Marseille after a Ligue 1 game.
In their defence, the four have said that they were carried away by the ecstatic feeling after beating the Ligue 1 rivals Marseille 4-0 on September 24.
Kolo Muani scored his inaugural goal for the club in the dominant victory, while Hakimi also contributed to the scoreline.
Following the win against their arch-rivals, the team celebrated by joining Warren Zaïre-Emery, who took a megaphone and chanted alongside the club’s ultras.
“We are well aware of the impact of our actions and our words on the public, notably the youngest who dream of watching a football match,” they said.
However, they have since apologized.
“In the future, we will do everything to further respect our duty to set an example.”
The president of the French League (LFP) disciplinary committee told PSG has also told PSG to close the Auteuil stand in their Parc des Princes home for one game.
Also during the club’s fans were heard singing and chanting Homophobic at some Marseille players.
